Best Connectivity in the Supply Chain

The crisis year 2020 has shown that R&M can rely on its partners. Our mission «Connectivity that matters» also applies to the supply chain. Even at the height of the pandemic, we were still able to deliver on time.

This is how the supply chain works at R&M

In a globalized economy, regional shutdowns hit supply chains hard, something 2020 has demonstrated dramatically. As the corona pandemic spread throughout the world, there was suddenly a shortage of freight capacity with delays at all levels.

The management recognized the risks at an early stage. We took just a few days to question our «modus operandi» and reacted immediately. Within a very short time, the safety standards were tightened in R&M’s global production network. Processes were adapted and directives from the authorities implemented.

Along with the health of our employees, it is our top priority to guarantee the security of supply to our customers at all times. Delivery quality is one of R&M’s strengths. Our excellent contact network with suppliers and freight partners is a very important part of this. Partnership-based business relations prove their worth especially in times of crisis. Together with proven partners, we succeeded in maintaining our ability to deliver even in these special times. All over the world.

So what do we learn from this?

The pressure of a pandemic «separates the wheat from the chaff». That is true for the entire value-added chain. In times like these, you find out just what is possible.

In 2020, many companies were pleased to discover that their limits can in fact be stretched much further than they had originally thought. That was certainly the case here at R&M. We were able to significantly increase our flexibility further, and learned to keep a cool head in the process while adapting targets to new circumstances at short notice. Our model of agile management principles and structures passed an endurance test.

The commitment and resilience of the R&M employees play a key role in this success. At all sites, our employees are implementing the necessary measures at short notice. This is how R&M remained capable of acting in every phase and customers in every region continue to be supplied reliably and punctually.

Crises represent opportunities

Crises always offer opportunities. The connectivity industry in particular was in high demand in 2020. Millions of people suddenly had to start working from home and many of them will continue to do so increasingly in the future. The demand for more powerful Internet connections is also putting the telecommunications market to the test, as bandwidth can no longer be considered a luxury. It is increasingly becoming an everyday basic need that can only be satisfied with fiber optic networks. Fiber to the Home is soon going to be just as important as water and electricity.
